making wet plates

Got to make some tintype plates for the first time this past weekend.  Such an intensive process, with so much room for error, but one of the most amazing things I've done.  Even got to use a 100-year-old Deardorff 8x10 camera!

Tintype portrait setting with 4x5 camera.  These exposures were in the 13 second range, so the A clamp behind the chair helps the sitter's head stay still during the shot.
